We headed off up the tail at 10 am with blue skies to the east and chinook clouds to the east which gradually cleared as the day went on. Although we were a large group, all went very smoothly with regular stops to regroup. The trail conditions varied from completely dry, to icy, to soft-packed snow. Traction devices were definitely helpful on some sections. Despite a light breeze, we decided to have lunch on the summit to take in the views before descending. We returned to the vehicles around 3 pm after a delightful day having covered 11.9 km and climbed 763 m.
