Lineham Ridge from Rowe Lakes Trail hike on 24-Jul-2025

About 100 m before we reached the parking lot we came across a contented black bear happily munching berries at the side of the road. We started hiking just before 9 am under blue skies and 16 degrees. We took our time noting all the berries, chewed tops of bear grass, and pleasant shaded forest. After reaching the meadow we headed up the steep section and were surprised by the proliferation of bear grass and columbines on the upper slope. We reached the col at 12 pm where 4 ramblers headed up to the peak, 3 ramblers went west along the ridge, and 2 ramblers took a relaxing 1 hour lunch gazing over the lineham lakes below.

Leaving the ridge at 1 pm, we came down at a relaxing pace, taking time to cool feet in the creek at the meadow and nibbling on the berries at the side of the trail. Participants: Dean, Teresa, Evan, Pam, John, Jo, Christine, Kate, Judy
