Sunshine to toe of Monarch Trail hike on 23-Jul-2025

Participants: Ed, Patty, Ivan, Monica, Bill, Pat

Six of us met for ride up gondola and chairlift.

Then hike across meadow to Wawa vol, down to Simpson Pass, across Healy meadows, across meadow above Eohippus Lake, up ramp at toe of Monarch and then short distance on Monarch Ramparts. A return to Simpson Pass and exit via Healy creek.

24.5 km, 580 meters up and 1,240 meters down. A 9 hour 50 minute day; we had a relaxing day.

We were fortunate that Calgary grabbed all the recent rain and our hiking trails had received only 2 mm in previous 60 hours. A few mud spots and a few wet spots. Lot of later season flowers. Wawa col and Healy creek trail were busy but when in between we met only a few hikers.
